Hofbrauhaus

We went to the famous Hofbrauhaus which is one of the best Beer Houses in Munich. We decided we wouldn't go through Germany without testing the local brew, and seeing as most people spend their lives half pickled we should at least have one afternoon. In these large halls you can only order beer by the "mass" - 1 litre - or half a litre. We sat getting slowly sozzled while the um papa band played on. We were there about 2 hours, there were lots of people, men in their traditional Bavarian costumes, short pants and green hats with feathers. Then we stumbled home in very good spirits!
On the way home we decided to get off the tube a stop early, and walk the last stretch through the parks and open spaces. the snow was calf deep, and we stopped to build a snowman. A dog came and contributed some color to our snowman's legs - don't eat the yellow snow! Once he was built we put one of our Russian hats on him, and gloves, and made teeth and eyes out of macaroni, then we posed with him. On the other side of the park there was a group of about 5 kids, and they were huddled together over a fallen snowman. They ran towards us, surrounded us, and then pelted us with snowballs. We lost the battle of course, they got through our front line reached our snowman and knocked off his head and then once we had gone they rebuilt it. Obviously the whole exercise was aimed at getting our snowman. They must have seen too much Saddam on T.V.

We walked the rest of the way to our castle hostel, and had a relaxing evening eating pasta again.
